New restaurant opening soon in Ramada

Aldi to celebrate ground breaking in new location.

A new restaurant will soon open inside the Logansport Ramada Inn.

Micamino Real Mexican Restaurant, located at 2550 E. Market St., is scheduled to open within the week, although an exact date had not been announced yet.

Mukesh Shah, owner of the hotel and restaurant, said it was time for a change of pace. The restaurant was previously Maxie’s.

“A lot of people wanted a Mexican restaurant,” he said. “It’s not a typical Mexican restaurant.”

In addition to traditional Mexican fare, Shah said the restaurant will also offer Italian and American dishes. The restaurant will also have a bar.

Shah said he visited other Micamino locations and liked what he saw and tasted.

“I was impressed by the food,” he said.

Shah said remodeling the restaurant has taken nearly six weeks and everyone involved in the project is excited to see it completed.

Hours of business will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturdays.

Local grocery store begins project

Aldi Foods will celebrate its ground breaking ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday at the store’s future site. The new store will be located across the street from the Home Depot, on East Market Street.

The news of the new store was announced last September by Skip Kuker, president of the Logansport-Cass County Economic Development Foundation. Kuker said he had been working with company representatives for nine months at the time of the announcement.
