Gift shop owners trying to sell

Skating rink, furniture store to open soon in former Big R building

Owners of Annie’s Attic are searching for new owners to take over the business.

Located in downtown Peru, Annie and Harley Carey opened the business in 1991. The two plan to leave the area sometime later this spring to move to Arkansas, where they will open a new store and be closer to family.

“It will fulfill both the loves of my life,” said Annie Carey. “The gift shop business and family in one place.”

The three-story gift shop has become a social experience for customers, according to a news release from Annie Carey.

Instead of closing the shop, the Careys hope to find someone who wants to take over and purchase the established business. However, if no one is interested, the owners plan to close the shop in the near future, according to the release.

Rumors confirmed

The installation of two business signs in front of the former Big R building confirmed a rumor several weeks ago that a new roller skating rink is coming to Logansport.

The Logansport Skate World and Fun Center along with Dylan’s Furniture will soon move into the building, which is located at 2625 E. Market St. and has been vacant since April 2002.

Denny Broens, building co-owner, and manager for Kokomo-based Lucas Home Furnishings, said that construction wouldn’t be completed inside the 43,000-square-foot building for a few more weeks.

Broens added he was discussing a possible sale of the building with an interested buyer.
