John Connaway has been mowing yards for as long as he can remember.
“I’ve just expanded a little bit over the years,” he said.
The Logansport resident has started a lawn care business, John’s Mowing. Owning his own business has been Connaway’s dream for quite some time.
With 13 different pieces of machinery, Connaway can offer specialized mowing as well a variety of other services to customers.
He cleans up abandoned houses, does bush hogging, tills gardens, digs trenches and post holes, digs up smaller trees and bushes, levels gravel driveways and even does some light landscaping.
Storm cleanup is another specialty, and Connaway also does off-season work like gutter cleaning and snow removal in the winter.
Connaway said he enjoys working outside and making other people’s yards look nice, too. He also gets to spend some time with his four children, who help out occasionally.
His business hours vary, depending on the weather and his children’s softball and baseball schedules. He is the assistant coach for three of the four teams.
While there are several other local businesses that offer similar services, Connaway feels his prices and approach will keep his business competitive.
“I’m friendly, nice and down to earth,” he said.
