Carroll County crash leaves one dead

27-year-old Burlington man killed in crash

From Staff Reports

BURLINGTON — A 27-year-old Burlington man was killed late Thursday in a one-vehicle crash in Carroll County.

Carroll County sheriff's investigators say a Jeep Wrangler driven by Levi T. Dyer was northbound on 500 East north of 600 South when it left the roadway and rolled one time.

Investigators say neither Dyer nor a female passenger was wearing a seatbelt. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and refused medical treatment at the scene, according to a sheriff's department news release. Dyer was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Alcohol is believed to be a factor.," the news release said. "Toxicology results are pending. The investigation is still ongoing."

The crash was investigated by Deputy Tony Liggett and Carroll County Coroner JayDee Cree, assisted by the Carroll County EMS and Burlington Fire Department.
