Ball State police searching for man with gun

MUNCIE — A Ball State University official says campus police are searching for a man who was reportedly seen with a handgun near a campus library.

Ball State spokeswoman Joan Todd says a text alert sent about 8 a.m. Monday warns students and staff that a man with a gun was seen near the Muncie school's Bracken Library. That alert urged people to avoid that area and seek a secure place.

Todd says the campus is not on lock-down but students and staff are being told to remain where they are and not to walk between buildings.

She says a female student told campus officials she saw a white man with a medium build walking near Bracken Library with what appeared to be a handgun in his left hand.
