Woman stabbed in Monticello

MONTICELLO — Police are investigating an incident near Monticello that sent one woman to the hospital with a stab wound to the leg.

Just after 11 p.m. Thursday, at a residence at 11538 North and U.S. 421 just south of Monticello, Jessica Boyd, 20, address unknown, was stabbed in the right leg by Elmer D. Guinn, 63, according to an Indiana State Police news release.

The incident occurred at Guinn’s residence on U.S. 421. According to police reports, the stabbing occurred because Guinn wanted to go to sleep in his bed and Boyd refused get out of the bed.

Guinn was arrested on preliminary charges of battery with a deadly weapon, a Class B felony; criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a Class C felony; and intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Class C felony. Bond was set at $50,000.

Guinn was transported to the Carroll County Jail, and Boyd was transported to IU White Memorial Hospital in Monticello, where she was treated and released.

Trooper Tyler Stinson of the Indiana State Police at Lafayette continues to investigate the incident.

Assisting at the scene were the Carroll County Sheriff Department, Monticello Police Department and the White County Sheriff Department.
