Clerk stabbed in Delphi armed robbery

Armed robber targeted Discount Tobacco store.

---- — Just after 2 a.m. Monday, a night clerk at Discount Tobacco in Delphi was stabbed during an armed robbery.

When police arrived at the scene, they found Raj Singh, 21, Delphi, had been stabbed multiple times in the upper left shoulder area. A suspect wearing a mask and wielding a knife came into the store at 303 W. Main St., according to police reports.

The suspect grabbed Singh, stabbed him and then demanded money and cigarettes. The suspect left the store with an unknown amount of money and cigarettes.

Singh was transported to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette with non life-threatening injuries. He has been treated and released.

Indiana State Police are investigating, and officials declined to release additional information.

Assisting at the scene were Carroll County Sheriff Department and the Delphi Police Department.
