---- — One was killed and two were hospitalized in a car crash on a Cass County road Friday night after the driver of one of the vehicles failed to yield at an intersection, according to press release from the Cass County Sheriff's Department.

The Cass County 9-11 Dispatch Center was notified of the crash at the intersection of 600 East and 400 South at 6:29 p.m. Friday, the press release states.

Martez Lee, 22, Fort Wayne, was driving a 2010 Honda Civic south on 600 East, approaching the intersection of 400 South, when Jacob Dillon, 86, Kokomo, traveling east on 400 South in a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, failed to yield at the intersection. Lee's car then struck Dillon's truck at the intersection and caused it to overturn.

"Witnesses stated Mr. Dillon disregarded the stop sign," said Cass County Sheriff's Deputy Branson Eber in an interview, adding that Dillon's truck was then struck at a right angle by Martez's oncoming car.

Dillon was pronounced dead at the scene by Cass County Coroner Randy Rozzi, according to the release. The release also states Dillon was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

Virginia England, 85, Kokomo, a passenger in Dillon's truck, was airlifted to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

As of Saturday afternoon, England was listed as in serious condition at the hospital.

Lee was transported to Logansport Memorial Hospital and treated for a complaint of back pain, the release states.

Eber was assisted at the scene by Sergeant Kevin Pruiett, Reserve Deputy Jared Wiseley and Sheriff Randy Pryor, all of the Cass County Sheriff's Department. Members of the Walton, New Waverly and Cass County Fire District No. 1 fire departments were on the scene as well. As of Saturday afternoon, the crash was still under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff's Department.
