Transco announces plans for expansion, up to 28 jobs

City to consider tax abatement in mid-August

LOGANSPORT — The Logansport City Council will consider a $43,895, ten-year tax abatement next month for Transco Railway Products, Inc., which said Friday it plans to bring up to 28 new full-time jobs.

Transco currently employs 84 people. The $925,000 will help make the plant more efficient, said plant manager Eric Nichols at a city planning and economic development committee meeting early Friday evening.

Transco Railway Products Inc., is one of the nation's leading independent providers of freight car repair, modification and rebuilding services to the rail transportation industry, according to its website. The company was organized in its current form in 1967 as a combination of certain predecessor companies that had been in the railcar repair and component manufacturing business since 1936, the site states.
