Kokomo man injured in Cass County accident

Pharos-Tribune

— A Kokomo man was airlifted after a single-vehicle accident early Monday morning.

Just after 2:30 a.m., Gary Porter, 50, Kokomo, was traveling east on Ind. 218 when he failed to negotiate a curve, causing his 2006 Dodge Ram pickup truck to go off the northside of the roadway. The vehicle went into a sideways slide and slid across 600 North before rolling numerous times and striking a utility pole. It then came to rest upright on its wheels.

Personnel from the Walton and Galveston fire departments extricated Porter from his vehicle. He was airlifted from the scene and taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. He is being treated for multiple injuries and was listed in stable condition Monday afternoon.

The crash remains under investigation by the Cass County Sheriff Department.
