GALVESTON — Southeastern School Board members voted Monday night to hire Barrett Bates to fill the principal's shoes at Galveston Elementary School this fall.
He will succeed Trudie Hedrick, who will become superintendent this summer when current superintendent John Bevan retires.
Bates currently teaches social studies at Lewis Cass Junior-Senior High School, where Bevan says he's well respected among students and staff.
