ANDERSON (AP) — Relatives of central Indiana woman badly hurt in a crash that killed her husband says they hope she and her daughter born hours after the crash can be out of the hospital as early as this weekend.
John Keefe says his 22-year-old daughter Rebecca Sperry and grandchild are in stable conditions and improving at Indianapolis hospitals from Sunday's crash.
Authorities say 23-year-old Jesse Sperry died when the car driven by his wife went off Indiana 32 near the town of Lapel after being struck from behind by an off-duty Edgewood police officer's SUV. That officer was arrested on preliminary driving while intoxicated charges.
Keefe tells The Herald Bulletin his granddaughter shows no signs of injury. He says his daughter's injuries included a torn uterus, lacerated spleen and broken arm.
