Bus driver complaint nets 3 arrests in meth lab find

Bus driver reported suspicious vehicle during route

Three men were arrested on drug charges after a methamphetamine lab was uncovered along a Cass County road.

After police received a report of a suspicious vehicle, police arrested Brennan Scott Carter, 23, Kokomo, Franklin Robert Barr, 31, Lebanon, and Michael Levi Moon, 26, Peru.

Cass County dispatch received a complaint of a suspicious vehicle on 1050 South between 300 East and 400 East around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday. A bus driver called after he had trouble getting around the vehicle on his route in the area, a press release stated.

Cass County units and deputy Galveston Marshal Scott Turney were dispatched to the location.

Turney located a white van parked partially on the roadway with the driver standing in front of the vehicle. According to the press release, Turney said there were three others in the vehicle.

Cass County Sheriff Randy Pryor and Deputy Brian Swartzell arrived at the scene a short time later.

After the people in the vehicle was identified, Pryor said he saw a syringe lying between the two front seats of the vehicle. After leaning in the vehicle to obtain the syringe, Pryor said he noticed a chemical odor and a large Styrofoam container, also between the seats. It contained a meth lab, a press release said.

Three of four subjects in the vehicle were arrested and booked into the Cass County Jail. One was questioned and released. Carter was arrested on charges of manufacturing meth, possession of syringe, possession of precursors and a warrant out of Howard County; Barr was arrested on charges of possession of precursors, possession of syringe, manufacturing meth and possession of marijuana; and Moon was arrested on charges of possession of syringe and manufacturing meth.

Cass County Drug task force's Detective Pat Zeider and Indiana State Police Clandestine Lab Team assisted at the scene.
