Police: Meth lab bust nets 4 arrests


ROCHESTER — A three-month criminal investigation resulted in Thursday night’s arrest of four Rochester residents on 12 felony and two misdemeanor charges.

At 8:20 p.m., according to state police reports, officers executing a search warrant at 311 Fulton Ave., Rochester, found an active methamphetamine lab, items commonly associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Homeowners Blanford Tolbert, 37, and Summer Tolbert, 32, were incarcerated in the Fulton County Jail to face three felony charges each of maintaining a common nuisance, conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine, and neglect of a dependent. Bond was set at $75,000.

Also arrested at the residence were Emily Thompson, 22, and Calvin Bridges, 32, both of Rochester. Thompson was arrested on two felony charges of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and reckless possession of drug paraphernalia. She also faces two misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana under 30 grams and visiting a common nuisance. Bridges was arrested on four felony charges of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of pre-cursors, possession of methamphetamine, and maintaining a common nuisance. He also had an active felony warrant for failure to appear in court for driving after having been deemed a habitual traffic violator. He is being held without bail. Thompson’s bail was set at $75,000.

When officers executed the warrant, police report, they found four of the Tolberts’ minor children at the residence. All four were placed into the care of the Fulton County Division of the Indiana Department of Child Services. The Tolberts have two additional children who were visiting friends at the time the warrant was served. They have also been placed into the agency’s care. The six children ranged in age from 5 to 17 years.

The Tolberts’ home is located approximately 870 feet from Riddle Elementary School.

Law enforcement agencies on the scene were the Indiana State Police Peru Post Meth Enforcement Team, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department, and the Rochester Police Department.
